The Gulf Coast Youth Sailing Association has been providing the highest levels of coaching and sailing education to athletes since 2008. We are dedicated to supporting youth sailors who are committed to competing and excelling in national and international arenas.   Guided by a mission to develop the “whole sailor”, we incorporate all facets of high performance training including physical fitness, mental performance and nutritional guidance into our program. A low sailor to coach ratio allows for personalized attention, individual goal setting and consistent communication.

Each GCYSA sailor is held to high standards of attitude, cooperation and responsible behavior. Team members of GCYSA will grow and improve through a supportive team atmosphere. Sailors train as a team with the expectation that every sailor is closer to reaching his / her goals when challenged and encouraged by teammates.   Our sailors train together, travel together, learn together and forge lasting friendships.

The GCYSA calendar is divided into three seasons: Fall (September – December), Spring (January – May) and Summer (June – August).   Sailors register and pay for each season in advance. During the school year, the GCYSA teams train on Galveston Bay three of the four weekends each month, as well as traveling to several national events in the late Fall and Spring. From June through August, daily training is scheduled Monday through Friday.   Often, teams will relocate near the venue of a major regatta to optimize preparation.   Consistent participation is critical to each sailor’s success. All sailors are expected to have at least 80% participation throughout the season.
