The 2016 I420 Gulf Coast Champs were hosted by the Texas Corinthian Yacht Club in Kemah, Texas.  Fourteen boats were vying for the title and points towards qualifying for the US I420 Worlds and Junior European Championships Teams this summer.

Galveston Bay served up champagne conditions with temperatures in the 70s and a tricky 10-18 kt offshore breeze that kept sailors on their toes.  Eyes out of the boat was the name of the game, as staying in the lines of pressure was the difference between staying on full plane and having the crew in the boat.

The TCYC RC ran 6 races on Saturday and 4 on Sunday for a 10-race series over two days. The racing was strong across the fleet, with 6 teams winning a race.

Congratulations to GCYSA’s AnaClare and Sophia Sole who were the top girls team, finishing in 9th.
